Breastfeeding mothers and their supporters recently participated in a subway caravan to promote breastfeeding.

The subway caravan has been a yearly event since 2004 when a young woman was given a ticket for public lewdness on the subway for breastfeeding her child.

Since then the “lactivists” have taken to the trains to promote the health and psychological benefits of breastfeeding.

Similac is the eighth most stolen item from supermarkets. In this particular market, not seen in the photo, is the only security camera in the store, trained solely on this infant formula display. Recently NYC Mayor Bloomberg announced initiatives to promote breastfeeding in city hospitals and discourage the use of infant formula. And by the way, formula is the eighth most stolen item from supermarkets.
