With five wins and no losses, Team USA’s quest for the gold medal has gone largely unchallenged, with only one close call against Lithuania on August 4th, 99-94. The rest of their games have been largely blowouts, winning by margins of at least twenty.
There have been a few funny moments, like Tunisia’s Mohamed Hadidane asking for Kobe Bryant’s autograph after the U.S. had won 110- 64. Another came when No. 1 draft pick Anthony Davis went to enter the blowout game against Nigeria. He started taking off his warm-ups when he realized … he’d forgotten his jersey. Chris Paul has been having an anxious two weeks. His wife Jada is pregnant with their second child, and Paul is imploring her to hold off until he can come home to be there. He says he would fly six hours home for the birth if it becomes possible.
