This Olympics have proved thrilling in the pool. Diving is a pretty cool sport when you sit down and think about it. Sure, every photo starts to look the same, and watching it on TV you start to really think the judges are crazy because there was nothing different from this dive and the last dive, but they totally scored it differently. But then you get a back flop. And you realize diving is a far more dangerous sport than you realized, and suddenly it’s far more interesting. Continue reading →

It was the best of times, and it was the worst of times. We saw upsets, momentous feats by the human body, and we saw disappointments. We watched Michael Phelps become the most decorated Olympian of all time. #witness.

We saw the highly favored gymnast American McKayla Maroney fall on the vault. We saw gold-medalist 400m runner Kirani James, representing a little country of 100,000 people, trade bibs with Oscar Pistorius, the first ever double amputee in the Olympics. But then there was Voula Papachristou, Greece’s triple-jumper who got disqualified for a racist tweet. Continue reading →

To be honest there are only a few Olympic sports I can name from memory but that leads to one of my favorite parts of the games. Whenever I have a few free minutes I like to flip through the networks with Olympic programming and see what sports I know nothing about are on. So far in 2012 some of the most captivating sports I’ve watched are Archery and Shooting. Continue reading →
