As the signs of spring slowly creep north there are 64 dog sled teams racing their way deep into the Alaskan wilderness for the chance to be crowned Iditarod champion. The racers will spend nine days racing more than 1,000 miles of snow and ice. Continue reading →

Somebody needs to come up with a way to freeze dog’s growth so that they remain puppies. Seriously, there could not be anything cuter that a little butterball called a golden retriever puppy. And who could hold a grudge against a young Bassett Hound chewing on your shoelace (see below)? They are often round and fluffy and full of love. Maybe not always so well behaved, but when they look at you with their sweet puppy-dog eyes, it’s easy to forgive whatever crime they’re guilty of. (Seriously) Ugly Dogs

2007's Ugliest Dog winner was a Chinese Crested and Chihuahua mix Elwood is dark coloured and hairless , save for a Mohawk-like puff of white fur on his head. According to his New Jersey owner, Karen Quigley, he is often likened to "Yoda," or "ET," for his resemblance to a science-fiction character. Remember that old adage “a face only a mother could love”? Well, apparently it applies to dogs and dog owners as well. Because let’s face it, if I went to a pet store to buy a dog and was shown any of these little beauties I’d probably scream and run away as fast as I could. Which is why I have to believe that many of the owners of these dogs must have big hearts, and the ability to look past the outside appearance. Also I’m sure the prospect of a $1,600 paycheck helps out a little bit. Continue reading →
