This picture above is one of my most favorite pictures we’ve ever had on Newscom – not just my favorite of Whitney Houston. The picture seems so symbolic in a way of Whitney and her career with the strong contrast of the light and dark. On the light side is her incredible voice giving us songs we will never forget (no Whitney, IIIIII will always love YOU). On the dark side, she lost her career – and possibly her life – to a drug addiction.
Houston was found dead in her hotel today, only hours before she was supposed to appear and perform at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy Awards party this evening. At the height of her fame in the 1980s and early 1990s, Houston was a Grammy Award winning performer with hits like “I Will Always Love You”, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, and “Saving All My Love For You”. But by the end of the 90s Houston struggled publicly with drugs and her career quickly went down the drain.
The last three years were marked by her attempt to come back and regain some of her former glory, but she could never quite make it over the hump to get back on the track of success. Read more about her life and career with this LA Times article.
Check out some of the iconic photos of Houston that we’ve included in this post. Then you should head back to Newscom to see more pictures of Whitney Houston.

I really love Whitney Houston because she has a very unique voice and of course most of her songs were a hit on its heyday. “:`,’
