Somebody needs to come up with a way to freeze dog’s growth so that they remain puppies. Seriously, there could not be anything cuter that a little butterball called a golden retriever puppy. And who could hold a grudge against a young Bassett Hound chewing on your shoelace (see below)? They are often round and fluffy and full of love. Maybe not always so well behaved, but when they look at you with their sweet puppy-dog eyes, it’s easy to forgive whatever crime they’re guilty of. And no matter how many times I’ve seen this, I always have to let out a big “awwwww.”
Today, March 23rd, is National Puppy Day. It has to be one of the most adorable holidays around. It’s a day to celebrate the furry little creatures. It is also a day to raise awareness about some serious issues that affect the lives of many little pups. Colleen Paige founded National Puppy Day in 2006 as part of the efforts she makes with her organization Animal Miracle Foundation & Network. They do work across the globe to help save orphaned puppies and educate people about the sad reality of puppy mills. They do great work in aiding animals who cannot help themselves.
So check out these images (and the more we have back at Newscom) in honor of National Puppy Day.
I guess kittens aren’t the only animals that we like to put in a basket…
Forget putting a Chihuahua in a purse, just throw a small puppy into your pocket.
