Newscom has some pretty amazing images of dancers. Just type in dance, jazz, or ballroom and you pull up tens of thousands of results. And this week when you type in ballet, you will discover some truly stunning images of the sixth annual International Ballet Festival that is being held in Cali, Colombia, an area that is better known for its salsa dancing than its ballet.
The festival began on June 3rd and will run until this Sunday the 10th. Thirteen dance companies from countries around the world have been performing throughout the week, featuring their principal dancers. The hope of Gloria Castro Martinez, the organizer of the event and director of the Colombian Institute of Classical Ballet, was that the festival may draw over 100,000 visitors. To do that, ticket prices were lowered and free public events were held.
In a time when dance competitions are running rampant on television, people are missing out on the wonderful experience of a live show right in front of their eyes. For that reason, I hope the International Ballet Festival exceeds its 100,000 visitor goal.
However, for the rest of us who can’t make it to the performances Newscom has amazing images, that will have you in awe and wondering “How can people move like that?” So check out these images from Newscom of the sixth annual International Ballet Festival.
