UPDATE 8/9/12: Check out photos from the United States’ gold medal win over Japan.
As the number-one ranked team in the world, Team USA is going into the 2012 Olympics with attitude, arrogance, and hopes of a consecutive third gold medal. With world class goalie Hope Solo who is one of the most entertaining athletes in the news, the U.S. has a very good shot at gold.

Olympic soccer has already started, and the women faced France in their first game. France came out strong with two goals in the first fourteen minutes. Of those first two goals, Solo said “We weren’t fazed at all… We knew France was good but we know we’re better.” Her words do hold merit, as the U.S. rallied back and won 4-2.

Alex Morgan is a star to look out for. She had two of America’s goals, and is sure to have an impact on the field.
