Well it’s National Bikini Day once again. I don’t really know if this should be a cause for celebration (unless of course you are a straight man in America) … We are in the midst of “bikini season” as the summer heads into its hottest months and the less you wear the better it may feel. So a bikini may just be the perfect kind of swimwear, but as many women all across the nation understand, there is a love-hate relationship with the tiny bathing suit…
You love it when you’re in shape; you hate it if you decided pizza for lunch before you head to the pool was a good idea. And what never helps is the slew of celebrities who flaunt their bikini bodies poolside and on beaches all summer long. But hey, maybe the parade of toned abs and chiseled arms can be good motivation. I for one, will always chose pizza over exercise.
But sometimes what we forget about the rich and famous is that part of their job is looking good. If you want to get a lot of women to the movies, create a movie like Magic Mike, if you want to get guys to your movies put women in bikinis. And that is exactly what movie producers have been doing for years. People STILL talk about the infamous gold bikini Princess Leia donned in Star Wars. And I’m pretty sure every James Bond movie requires a bikini to make a walk-on role.
