April showers bring May flowers, or so the saying goes. Usually I just wish April would keep its rain to itself and skip straight to sunny weather, all flowers aside. But then I guess we would be missing out on the incredible beauty of the aforementioned May flowers. And that would be rather unfortunate.
Just think of all the ways flowers enrich our lives. How would guys show their women affection on Valentines Day? What would a bride toss at her wedding? Anything other than a bouquet of flowers might put someone’s eye out. How would visitors be welcomed to Hawaii? Leis would cease to exist so maybe we would get handed a lobster instead? And the Rose Parade would be gone. Pretty much half our random traditions of cultural significance would be forever changed without flowers.
But flowers in May specifically always make me happy. Once plants start to bloom, it means that summer is on its way! The weather gets warmer and life gets happier. Not to mention the fact that they are just so awesome to look at.
This next picture in particular made me really ecstatic about life in general.
