After success over the first Hunger Games film, there is obviously going to be a lot of buzz and excitement over the next film to be released in the series. And especially hype over casting. Now, if the second book in the series introduced a hot new female character, I still do not believe there would be as many opinions given, or as many articles written as there have been for the rumored casting of the womanizing Finnick, a new male character.
Reportedly, four guys were up for the part: Taylor Kitsch, Garrett Hedlund, Robert Pattinson, and Armie Hammer. However the rumors about Pattinson were just that, rumors. But I will assume that there were teenage girls fueling reports in hopes of seeing him make into yet another huge movie franchise. But does Robert Pattison really need Hunger Games when he already has Harry Potter and Twilight under his belt? Let me answer that… No, he doesn’t. I just feel it would be unfair for an actor to have a part in three of the biggest film series of the past decade.
Taylor Kitsch on the other hand could have used a blockbuster success, after his recent movies John Carter and Battleship flopped at the box office. He, however, has stated that becoming a part of the movie is “not going to happen.”
So now it’s supposedly down to two: Armie Hammer and Garrett Hedlund. Although Lionsgate will not comment on casting, everyone else with an opinion will. I say go with Garrett. He fits the part more, but what do you think? Check out these images of potential Finnick’s on the red carpet and as leading men in their latest films.
