We’re a lot of things at Newscom. We’re big, we’re easy, we’re deep, we’re fast (all in relation to finding and downloading photos, of course). We’re also always working to make things easier for the people we work with every day. One thing we hear over and over that our clients need is “speed”.

We hear you. We really do. Everything that we’ve done at Newscom over the last year has been about making it easier for you to find the picture you need and get out and on with your life as quickly as you can. Our new website, our new search tools, SubjectSites, and even this blog was all set up to make it easier to find the right photo.

Our greatest strength can sometimes be a weakness too: We have nearly 70 million images in our database. That means the odds are pretty great that we will have the image you’re looking for. On the other hand, it can also mean that you have to dig through a page or two of images that have similar captions or keywords but aren’t exactly right. That’s where we come in (“we” being the social media and blogging team). We go through Newscom every single day and find the photos you’ll need. Then we put them in lightboxes, links, and blog posts, and work to share them with the world – making it one step easier to find the perfect picture.

For example, we’re coming up on the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. If you wanted to find a few photos or paintings to highlight that night. You’ll probably have several on the first page, but then  you may have to dig through pages showing artifacts going up for auction – or descendents of survivors – before you could find more photos related to the night the Titanic sunk. So we put together a lightbox and blog on the event – going through the photos ourselves so that you don’t have to. One step closer to finding the photos you need. It’s not a perfect way of making it easier, but we hope that it can help.

We also have set up a twitter account and Facebook page to share blogs and links to lightboxes so that you have one more place to look and find something that can work for you.

We’re going to continue to develop technology that makes finding the perfect photos easy and fast. But we hope that you’ll follow us on Twitter and Facebook so you can have one more resource for finding the perfect image quickly.
