Water makes up the majority of the planet and even on dry land it is never too far away with lakes, streams, and rivers littering the landscape. Water offers fun and beauty, but this week is the week to recognize the water that we drink which is by far the most important role water plays in our lives.

Drinking Water week was started by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) over 30 years ago and they continue to celebrate and bring awareness to communities across the country. The AWWA works to protect public health by providing safe and sufficient water for everyone. Keeping drinking water safe can be done by following a few easy steps, then the water everyone drinks can be made safe to drink.
