I imagine there must be a lot of big time television producers sitting around in some fancy conference room asking themselves “What new idea do we have for a television show?” They mull it over for a second and then someone responds “We don’t need a new idea; let’s remake an old hit series!” Then they laugh and make lots of money… Ok, it probably doesn’t go like that necessarily but we have seen quite a few old shows make reappearances in the past decade and now once popular soap-opera-esque Dallas is making its way back on air…
The original show had a long-standing run from 1978 to 1991 and was award winning with many nominations over the years at award ceremonies like the Emmy’s and Golden Globes. There are big shoes to fill with this new remake … or should I say revamp? It’s unclear what exactly to call it, since those working on the show claim that they never wanted to remake the original. And the story is just picking up twenty years later, so all the writing will be unique plots (well as unique as any soap opera gets).
The new cast includes old members like Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman and features up and coming actors Josh Henderson, Jesse MetCalfe, Jordana Brewster and Julie Gonzalo (did anybody else notice that all their names begin with J?). And finally actress Brenda Strong gets to star in a show where she’s not dead.
Who knows how well Dallas will do in the year 2012 but it’s got some promise (I mean, their promotional poster is of the cast in towels) … So in honor of the first episode airing on TNT tomorrow night (Wednesday the 13th) check out all the images Newscom has of the new Dallas!
