If you’re a young pre-teen you may know exactly who this girl is, but if you’re older than 18 years of age, you are about to hear her name all over. Zendaya is a 16 year-old Disney Channel star who is making her way into the limelight. Already with a hit television show, Zendaya has all the star potential to become the next Selena Gomez.
Having done theater most of her life, Zendaya Coleman (monogamously called Zendaya), got her start modeling for department stores and as a featured back up dancer in television commercials. She also danced in Kidz Bop music videos and even did a cover of Katy Perry’s “Hot n’ Cold” on one of the Kidz Bop tracks. Along with 200 other hopefuls, Zendaya auditioned for the part of Rocky Blue for the show Shake It Up!, a part that she landed and has since made her one of those Disney star sensations.
Earlier this week on Good Morning America, the newest cast of Dancing With the Stars was announced. And the youngest contestant on this season will be 16 year-old Zendaya. On a show that has been known to relaunch fading careers, make unknown names fan favorites, or simply remind us of that 80s star we used to have a crush on, Zendaya is sure to find a platform to make her name known to a larger audience. And with her background in dance, she is sure to go far in the competition.
