There is a lot of hype surrounding the last movie in the Batman trilogy The Dark Knight Rises, mostly because it will be the end of Christian Bale as the Dark Knight and Christopher Nolan’s stint as director of the films (not saying there are going to be more batman movies, but come one, it’s impossible for us to get through a decade without the man in a bat suit making his way onto the big screen somehow). This latest installment is looking to be pretty good by the trailer, and I think this may be due in part to what looks to be one of the scariest villains we’ve ever seen.
Bane, played by Tom Hardy, is a menacing character, who wears a type of gas mask on his face, supposedly used to relieve pain. Hardy gained thirty pounds of pure muscle for the role, which is evident from his massive size in the film. Christopher Nolan has praised the actor for really committing to the role and transforming himself into Bane both physically and mentally.
It may be Tom Hardy’s dedication to acting that has led him to some great roles as of late. He has been in highly acclaimed films like Inception and Tinker Tailor Solider Spy, as well as the starring opposite Reese Witherspoon in This Means War. His film Lawless is debuting this week at the Cannes Film Festival. The movie, which tells the story of three brothers during the Prohibition era, stars Shia LaBeouf and Mia Wasikowska.
