This family band has been making a splash lately in the world of country music. If you haven’t heard of The Band Perry, you certainly will. Their hit song “If I Die Young” has gone triple platinum and they have been nominated for five Country Music Awards including Song of the Year and New Artist of the Year (the CMA’s will be on Nov. 9, so we’ll see how they do then).
The band is comprised of older sister Kimberly and little brothers Neil and Reid. Having been raised in a musical household in Alabama, Kimberly began her own band at the age of fifteen and hired her brothers as roadies. The roadies gig lasted just a short period as the brothers took to the stage as an opening act for their sister. Although never performing publically all together, the three would play at home in the evenings, writing songs for years. Finally, in 2005 they joined up and officially formed The Band Perry. They were discovered and it has been a steep road of success ever since then.
Wednesday night at the CMA’s we’ll get to see if any of their nominations become wins, and even if they don’t, The Band Perry has made their mark in country music.
