Her resume may not be full of large rolls, in fact her scene was cut in the movie Hitch, but Rutina Wesley has a part in one of the biggest television series, True Blood. And when you get to star alongside some of the hunkiest men in Hollywood, I would say that you’ve landed yourself a pretty good gig.
Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Rutina was born into a talented family. Her father Ivery Wheeler was a professional tap dancer and her mother Cassandra Wesley was a showgirl. Rutina obviously inherited the dancing ability because she starred in the dance movie How She Move which was her first big break into film. And even before that, she honed her skills at the Julliard School, where she subsequently met her acting husband Jacob Fishel.
Having only seen her play Tara Thorton, an overly sassy waitress, on True Blood, I can’t say I had the highest regard for her. I mean, in her defense I’ve only seen like two episodes, but she was really sassy in those episodes… however in looking at her red carpet pictures, she has won me over. She has a smile that draws you in.
