If you get cast in a Woody Allen film, then I think it’s safe to say you’re doing pretty well in life. And then to play opposite, veteran actors like Alec Baldwin is just an added bonus. So Greta Gerwig’s career is looking pretty good so far. She stars in the soon to be released (and by soon, I mean tomorrow, June 22nd) To Rome With Love playing an American student caught in a love triangle in Rome (it sounds Woody Allen enough).
But Greta Gerwig is no typical Hollywood actress. This girl has aspirations that stem away from her being showcased on the silver screen. Her passion is in the script. Greta graduated from Barnard College where she studied literature, and has been a co-writer for some smaller Indie films. And although she can appreciate the new popularity of improvisation in movies she has stated that “those films, to me, end up feeling more like collages. I like films that feel more like poems. I just like that authorship feeling.” It’s feelings like these that are probably why she is vying for an Oscar for best screenplay.
She’s endearing, adorable, and oozing with talent. What is not to like? Her future seems bright whether she appears on screen or off. I’m already rooting for her to get that Oscar. So in honor of her new film, check out all the images we have at Newscom of Greta Gerwig.
