You may have seen those dramatic previews on television week after week for the new hit series Revenge, which the name its self sounds promising of an eventful viewing. The ABC drama is currently ranked as the second most popular show on television according to TV Guide. So it’s got people hooked. The guarantee of excitement more intriguing than your own life might be one draw, but the star of the show, Emily VanCamp, might be another.
You may recognize her from her roles on other popular television shows such as Everwood and Brothers & Sisters. Having only seen a handful of episodes of each myself, Emily VanCamp’s previous parts seemed a bit… well sweeter, than the character she is portraying in Revenge (all the episodes are currently available on Hulu, if you’re interested … some of us here may or may not have watched each episode several times). The girl has got motives (good ones too) to take down people who have wronged her in life (we don’t want to spoil the show if you haven’t seen it, but just know it’s a modern adaptation of Alexander Dumas’ Count of Monte Cristo – which is on a short list of best books ever written).
As an actress, Emily is proving that she can play a variety of different roles, and complex characters.
Emily has been in showbiz for a while now, but with her new series doing as well as it has, it looks like she could be sticking around on this project for a while.
