There is nothing more fun than when the latest hit on the radio happens to come on during your ten minute drive to work (then again there is nothing worse than when you’ve heard the latest song come on the radio for the one hundredth time). But the summer is always full of new releases from artists that are upbeat and fun to rock out to. Already the infamous “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen has left an impression on many, and Justin Bieber’s “Die In Your Arms” can get you dancing. However the most recent summer song to be heard on the radio is Cher Lloyd’s “Want U Back.”
I have to admit I’m obsessed. When I first heard it, I was ready to dance and sing along, but I didn’t know the lyrics. Fortunately it’s played enough times on the pop stations that I have become quite familiar. However, I was then curious about the singer behind the music…
Cher Lloyd hails from the UK where she was a contestant on the ever so popular X Factor (the same show to bring fame to One Direction). Although Cher placed fourth in the competition, Simon Cowell signed her to Sony Music and recently her single “Want U Back,” which originally featured rapper Astro, was re-released in the United States with the intention of bringing success to the star in America. And with a record deal with big time music producer L.A. Reid, it looks like that may just happen for Lloyd.
