It’s hard to believe that THE WEDDING – the wedding of the future king and queen of England, the Royal wedding, the wedding of the century – is almost upon us. When Kate and William first announced their engagement it seemed like the end of April was a lifetime away and hardly enough time to really prepare every detail. Continue reading →

Looking Under the Hood: An Interview with Newscom’s CEO

Newscom is a great company in a very interesting business. We are often asked a lot of questions about how, exactly, we work, what our value is, and whether or not we’re part of Getty Images (we’re not!). Because of all of these questions and more, we decided to post excerpts from a recent interview conducted by a client with Newscom’s CEO and President, Scott Calder. Scott is a long-time participant in the information industry, having founded Newscom’s parent company, Mainstream Data, in 1985. Prior to starting Mainstream, Scott was a strategy consultant with Bain & Company, a global corporate strategy consulting firm, and received his MBA from the Harvard Business School.

We hope that this interview might give you an in-depth look at how Newscom works, how we do business, and what we’re trying to accomplish as a company. Continue reading →

5 Reasons Why You Should Find Us on Facebook

Newscom is on FacebookAll the cool kids are doing it. No really, that’s basically why we got on Facebook. While it may not be the most honorable of reasons to jump in to something, everyone else was doing it so we figured we had to be on there too.

But, if it can redeem us in any way, as we’ve studied Facebook, tested it and come up with a plan for how to use it effectively, we are there now because we’ve made a decision to help our clients get the most out of Newscom (which roughly translates into “using Newscom to make their jobs easier”). Newscom, so much more than news

With the inauguration of our new blog and new logo (and totally cool and revamped website), we thought it would be a good time to reintroduce ourselves. We think Newscom is pretty cool and we have a lot to offer but we occasionally run into the problem that people don’t know the extent of what Newscom is. So, we’re going to tell you why we’re not only the best place to find images for editorial use, but also that we’re the largest distributor of multimedia content on the web. Go ahead and read on, you’ll soon agree with us. Continue reading →
