I’m not sure how I got through so many Olympics without actually sitting down and seeing how cool synchronized swimming is. But I watched it this past week and I’m now a lifelong fan and trying to guage if my lungs could handle the sport (they probably couldn’t, but I can dream).
This past Olympics the Russians dominated, taking gold in both the team competition and in doubles (their fourth-straight Olympics team gold). As someone who was a complete rookie to watching the sport, Russia was obviously the best. They were getting so high out of the water, the girls were flying out of the water on the lifts, and their routines were just so crisp. I could watch them all day. Not that the other teams weren’t cool. Spain had some cool tricks (like that first picture), and Australia was totally rocking to AC/DC.
