During my freshman year of college, I roomed with a girl from Croatia. She told me all about how beautiful it was and how popular it was in Europe as a travel destination. I listened, and thought it was cool, but I never really thought much about Croatia beyond that. It didn’t seem likely that I’d ever make it there.

Until I saw some of the pictures, and now it’s making it to my Pinterest “places I’ll go” board … or on my bucket list … or clipped out and put in my travel folder. Whatever those cool kids are doing to plan their fantasy trips these days.

Located in central Europe, across the Adriatic Sea from Italy, Croatia has both mountains and beaches, historical architecture, and my roommate told me the food was delicious. The capital is Zagreb and one of the most popular travel destinations is Plitvice National Park – one of the most beautiful places in the world, if the pictures in this blog are anything to judge it by. With mountains, turquoise-colored lakes, and beautiful waterfalls, I’d probably never want to leave.  According to Lonely Planet – and their Croatia travel guide – some of the most popular and important places to visit in Croatia are Varazdin, Zagreb, Samobor, Pula, with Plitvice National Park rounding out the list.

We’ve got pictures from all five places back at Newscom. But we’ve got a lot of great pictures in this post too. So check them out and see if they’ll be helpful in planning your bucket list trip. Or just give you something to daydream about on a cold day at work.
