The United States Golf Association made the Olympic Club golf course one of the hardest the PGA players will face all year. The USGA, like they do every year, wanted to make Par a good score; and this year it was such a good score no one could get their score down that low. Webb Simpson won the tournament with a score of +1.
The Olympic Club offered players and fans great views of San Francisco throughout the weekend but few players were able to enjoy it because of the headaches the course gave some of the top players. Defending Champion Rory McIlroy and 2012 Masters Champion Bubba Watson both missed the cut and did not play on the weekend.

Tiger Woods looked to be unaffected by the tough course early in the tournament as he was leading at -1 after the first two rounds. Then Tiger finished his third round with bogeys on 16 and 18. Tiger then picked up right where he left off starting his fourth round with four bogeys and a double bogey in his first six holes. Tiger’s struggles did not damper the enthusiasm of fans wanting to see him get another major win.

There were players who were able to take advantage of the course including John Peterson who scored an ace on the 13th hole on Saturday. Beau Hossler, a 17 year old amateur, was one of the biggest story lines as he not only made the cut but was in the top 10 going into Sunday which was an amazing run for the Santa Margarita High School senior.
