The last week and a half in June was where the Olympic dreams of USA runners came true or were put on hold for another four years. All of the top American runners across all distances gathered in Eugene Oregon where USA Track and Field held the Olympic trials and the goal was simple: finish in the top three and you’re in.
The competition was tight with Olympic dreams coming up hundredths of a second short. The margin of making the team was the smallest in the women’s 100 meters were Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh tied for third place and were given the option of a run off or a coin flip to see who would make the trip to London. Before the scheduled run off Tarmoh decided to decline her position which gave Felix the ticket to London.
Here is a look at all the American men and women, and their events, who will be running for gold.
