After the trials this past weekend saw some heartbreak and a few surprises, the 2012 US Olympic gymnastic team roster has been set. While the list still needs to be approved by the Olympic committee, we can be fairly confident that we’ll be seeing these faces wearing Team USA’s colors come July 27.
Nastia Liukin’s comeback literally fell short when she fell off the uneven bars, but Gabby Douglas got everyone’s attention passing Jordyn Wieber to take the automatic spot on the US women’s team. After Douglas’ performance at the trials, many people think the US could go 1 and 2 in the all-around competition in London, with Weiber as the favorite for gold.
The men’s team looks like it may be up for the team gold in London, the first since the US men won it in 1984. Danell Leyva and John Orozco led the way in the trials with the highest combined scores, but the other three members of the team weren’t far behind.
