They give out a lot of awards at the Oscars. A lot that I actually have no idea what they mean, and unfortunately, when the winners of such awards get up to give their speeches, I go refresh my bowl of popcorn. What I stick to, and what I think most people look for, are awards like Best Movie, and Best Actress. As a woman, I can’t complain about the Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Actor in a Supporting Role, mostly because they always involve some very handsome men.
This year, as most, the predictions are flying. Jean Dujardin is a favorite for the win of Best Actor in a Leading role for his work in The Artist. But then again he’s going up against the lovable George Clooney, who has gotten quite a bit of praise for his part in The Descendants. It is also Gary Oldman’s first Oscar nomination despite his long history of respectable work in film. For Best Actor in a Supporting Role, it seems that hands down the award will go to Christopher Plummer in Beginners.
You never know what will happen though. There is always the chance of an upset, and although it may ruffle a few feathers, it always keeps the awards exciting. So check out these images (and the more we have back at Newscom) of the Best Actor noms at this year’s Academy Awards.
